Happiest Aus in Britain right now

"Do you realise between us, today we bought 6 tickets, to see TooL in 3 different countries!!"

Yes, this morning we finally got our hot little hands on tickets to see Tool in London, Glasgow and wait for it... Barcelona!!! I'm so happy I can't even cry. *sigh*

Swing it, shake it

And thanks to Reece and Matt who simultaneously messaged me last night (whilst we were watching the Commonwealth Games ARRRRR!!!) both randomly telling me about the Spice video on Video Hits. It's the small things in life that make you happy I guess!

Last train to Baaaarth

Well, it's been a while since I've upated, so annoying not having the regular access I need! Probably the biggest - and best - thing I've done since last posting was our trip to Bath. I suppose I should start the story the Friday night before (our train was due to depart town around 9.30 last Sat morning.) Was not intending to head out after work but was pursuaded by Lisa late afternoon. "Ok", I thought, "I'll go for a few cheeky ones then hit the road". It was not to be.

After All Bar One it was off to Digress. Now, the only thing I remember of Digress (and when I say remember I mean, stories people told me of the time I was there because I was too blotto to remember), was of the Threadneedle Christmas party, and we all know about that night. Something came over me as I entered, it was like an out of body experience.. for some reason I thought money was no issue so bought a BOTTLE of wine and double vodkas ahoy... after getting well on the way (and a message from Towsty warning me of the implications of catching a train whilst hungover), we moved on to Hoxton Square. Again, I was back in a place which was riddled with hazy memories of hideously drunken adventures. This night was different in that by about 3am I was in a horrible state of being tired, emotional, too drunk and wanting to get the hell out of there - reasons withheld - I eventually made it home (BIG UP to Alison and Lisa, without them I would've woken up in some gutter of Shoreditch). The night cost me £120. I am still paying for it now.

Needless to say, the mad dash after 4 hours 'sleep' was beyond unbearable and poor Towst was stuck with me for the next 24 hours. After FINALLY getting a train outta London (£20 later grrr) we were on our way. On arrival Bath looked like a quaint little place, but as we climbed higher looking for our accomodation we realised just how huge (and breathtaking) the place was. Somehow the fresh country air was revitalising me and I did last a whole day of walking and being all touristy.

We made it to the Roman Baths in the afternoon and spent about two hours touring around. It's an unbelievable place, I can't believe it was all underground before this, it's indescribable to explain the feeling of it (could be the hangover and stodge lunch), but I was well impressed and so glad we went. (and yes, we put our hands in the water against policy - pictures to be posted later). Spent the rest of the day taking it easy and talking a lot of crap - it was later that night we actually realised we spend so much time together anyone listening to us would think we were absolutely mad.

The morning bought joy for two reasons, a) I was no longer hungover! and b) it had snowed about 3 inches overnight!! We were due on the bus around 10 so spent a good hour throwing snow around and building snowmen (more photos to be posted), I was so happy.. I was disappointed I hadn't experienced any real snow fall so far this year (tick. another thing off the list.). The bus ride home was filled with talk of where to go next.. I so badly want to get into Europe, I feel a big holiday coming on, god April will fly!

Well, it's the big part-ay next weekend. Michaela hit 30 on Friday and V is soon approaching the big day. Our house is in party prep mode, cleaning and tidying and prettying things up.. I love it! I imagine we'll have more people than we thought which will be awesome and I'm sure the hangovers will last well into the week after. It's exciting, we always spoke about our birthdays overseas before we left, but now they're here... it's gone so fucking fast!! I look forward to using the occasion as an excuse to pay a shitload to get my hair done THE WAY I WANT IT BY A PROFESSIONAL and getting a new outfit.. polka dot dress here I come.

I still haven't got my guitar yet but I reckon by this time next week I will be making my housemates sick to death of hearing me have a crack at Daughter for the thousandth time.

Now, before I go I have to say thanks to V for introducing our house to Maoz.. OH MY GOD, I am so addicted to falafels right now (and YES! ASDA sell the mix.. we'll be eatin good for weeks). Everyone in Australia rally to get it opened down under, you will be forever grateful.

Well, time for beddy byes.. I get a sleep in tomorrow due only to having my NI interview tomorrow morning (blegh) however it affords me some much needed time to go for a run.. can't believe it's weigh day again... it better be good this week round!

Stay good and I keep sending the love.. I miss youse!

P.S - To Jarrod, Nads and Tim... thanks for making Friday what it was, so hilarious, I wish I could've been there.. you need to get here immediately! That means you too Nads!! (And J I'm so proud of your trip planning... waiting for Tool and all, so dedicated!)

P.P.S - I have tickets to Missy Higgins and Wolfmother.. hoorah!

P.P.P.S (ok, now this is ridiculous) - Thank you to Kel who sent her massive letter.. the pic of you and John was gorgeous.. I almost cried when I saw it, I miss you guys a lot and long for the farm, sun and open space! Watch out, you could have a Roustabout on your hands in a years time ;)

P.P.P.P.S (Oh, really, come on now) - I'm proving just how fabulous a 'secretary' (I can't BEAR be called that) I am... Dave arrived back from France with a bottle of French champagne for me, I could get used to this.

Splish, splash

What does this Aussie do the day after getting her hair brilliantly coloured (word up Megs!) and beautified?! She plays netbal IN THE RAIN of course. I am sitting at my desk, my hair is sopping and pulled back, my face is red and my socks are wet. The English are MAD. And now I don't want to go watch Chels play cause I'll look a right minger. Oh the pain of it all.

It feels like you were there yourself, work it out

This morning I went for a jog through Green and Hyde Park. A good idea in theory. ("In theory communism worked"). I think it was around 1 or 2 degrees. On arrival I noted that several of the small lakes were FROZEN.

Half way down the river Dare cropped up on my Ipod.. I suddenly felt myself running back along the Torrens River with the sun beating up over the hills pushing to make the time I had set the fortnight before in Corporate Cup. And today my running anthem helped me over the line again (not to mention also bringing back memories of Moonta & the showers at DECS!!).

I ran into Dan on the way in this morning and he almost died at the sight of my kit..
'Errrr you were dressed as if you were going to The Commonwealth games in Melbourne. I've never seen the likes of it!!!'. Apparently it wasn't just me who thought I had gone mad.

Happy Anniversary!

It's officially been 3 months since we touched down in sunny (HAHAHA) England. Wow. It feels like I've been here forever (but, in other ways it feels like I've only just arrived).

Highlights
10p sandwiches (or was that a lowlight V??), Xmas at Danno's, snow in Willy G, New Years with Mick and the crew in Dublin, Threadneedle Christmas Party (so many friends and foes (I'm sure) made), riding the Towsty line to Cockfosters (Hahaha!!), Pete and his yelling, Waxy's, The Redback!, Hyde Park (OMG and getting Foo tickets), Russian New Year, Primark - you love it!, Sainsburys - no wait, Tescos - no wait, Sainsbo's..., Chelsea match, Valentines' Day at Willy G (and getting TLE!), Australia Day and the Hottest 100 countdown from home, Camden Lock, Tower of London/The Eye/Big Ben/Bucko Palace.

Phew! (and too many more to mention)

Still missing you all heaps... can't think about those last few days of work, the Grand, the Vic (!!), Lachy's, my car, moving to storage and most importantly, the final farewell at the Airport, without getting just a bit emotional.

Thanks to everyone who has kept in touch.. it does make a difference even if I don't always get to write back immediately!
